When I last logged in to my NPS membership page to update my equipment list recently, I noticed that there was some additional fine print at the bottom of the landing page. Upon further inspection, It reads in part that renewals will be automatic starting in 2026. I’m sure this is related to the fact that now they charge for certain membership levels. Now, the can charge your credit card in perpetuity, year after year, instead of asking each year to indicate your interest in continuing your membership. Currently, when they reach out and confirm your interest in continuing their membership, there is a greater chance that a few say to them self’s that they never used the service and declined to continue their NPS membership. By not asking, I’m assuming that more will continue than if they did ask.

Here is the exact wording from Nikon NPS:

For all NPS Members having a current NPS Membership in effect as of December 31, 2025, your NPS Membership will automatically renew for calendar year 2026 and each subsequent calendar year thereafter that you remain an NPS Member, unless and until you affirmatively opt-out of such automatic renewal through your NPS Account dashboard. For PRO+ and PLATINUM+ Members, this means that when you purchase a paid NPS Membership, you will be required to provide your payment method to Nikon in the form of your credit card, which credit card will remain on file with Nikon, and will be charged for the annual Membership Fee on or around the end of December of each calendar year beginning in 2025, unless you affirmatively opt-out of such automatic renewal through your NPS Account dashboard.”
