Her Nikon Ambassador page now appears to have been restored.
Original Story:
Charmi Pena, one of the ten photographers added to the Nikon Ambassador program back in May of 2018, appears to be out of the program. If you click on her photo icon (https://www.nikonusa.com/nikon-ambassadors) on the Nikon USA ambassador page, it leads to a page not found error. However, the page appears to be still up at https://www.nikonusa.com/learn-and-explore/c/ideas-and-inspiration/charmi-pena it’s just not reachable from the main ambassador page.
On her website (https://www.charmipena.com/), in the about section, she is still showing the Nikon Ambassador logo on one of her self portraits. It’s hard to say if this is the result of not having time to rid her site of any Nikon information or not.
Nikon has done some strange things lately as reported in my prior post (www.robertallen-photography.com/blog/nikon-removes-all-website-and-social-media-references-from-all-nikon-usa-ambassador-pages) to the Nikon ambassador profile pages.
I reached out to Charmi and she indicated that she is indeed still a Nikon Ambassador but had no response as to why her Nikon Ambassador profile page was not reachable from the main Nikon Ambassador page. I tested all of the other ambassador profiles and all appear to be working properly with the only exception being Charmi’s.
If I hear any thing else about this developing story, I will post an update.
I just spent a year away from all Adobe products and used Capture One exclusively during all of 2024 for all commercial assignments and personal content. I actually cancelled my Adobe Photographers subscription at the end of 2023 to ensure I would not be tempted to go to the dark side during my testing period. Here is what I found after using Capture One for a full calendar year.
If you are on an annual subscription, the new price will take effect from your next renewal date that falls on or after May 1, 2025. You will receive reminder emails with details of the new price 30, 7 and 3 days before your subscription is due for renewal.

When I last logged in to my NPS membership page to update my equipment list recently, I noticed that there was some additional fine print at the bottom of the landing page. Upon further inspection, It reads in part that renewals will be automatic starting in 2026. I’m sure this is related to the fact that now they charge for certain membership levels. Now, the can charge your credit card in perpetuity.
2025 marks the 10th year of my membership in Nikon’s NPS. Let me say right off that I’m a member at the complimentary professional level, not one of the paid options. I was permitted to join back when there were no paid NPS memberships.
2024 was a pretty typical year as far as both event and personal assignments. The one exception is that on the event photography side, it was the highest grossing sales year ever, quite an accomplishment considering the dismal state of commercial photography.
I would say the highlight would have to be was attending a photography workshop in Tuscany Italy with Joe McNally and Tamera Lacky.
With the Nikon Z9 going on 5 years old, it’s time to start to speculate what the Nikon Z9II specifications might be. With an estimated release date sometime in late 2025 or early 2026, it appears that now is a good time to start documenting what changes and improvements are needed with the Nikon Z9 II
I took advantage of the recent special that B&H photo had on some of their Nikon equipment during their holiday sale that offered 24 month interest free financing when using their Payboo credit card.
I wonder what it feels like to be hit over the head with a Nikon. Happy New Years! RIP Linda Lavin.
With yet another Z9 firmware release (ver 5.10), I thought I would put together a comprehensive guide to all 10 of the Z9 updates to date. This also serves as a historical record of how far the Z9 has come, starting with its firmware infancy with version 1.00.
Robert G Allen Photography has been notified by Nikon USA, Inc. that Robert Allen will continue to be a part of Nikon's NPS (Nikon Professional Services) program for 2025 at the Professional Level.
Today, I received the latest Nikon camera release, The Z50II along with the DX lens 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3.
I had a chance to use this combination shortly after delivery as I provide event photography coverage for a major local holiday event.
Since I no longer use any Adobe products (due to the AI mess they have created resulting in fake photos everywhere), and Capture One has yet to support the Z50II, I had to use Adobe’s DNG converter (cough, cough…) to convert the NEF files into DNG files in order to use Capture One to process the photos.
Today, Nikon issued an update to their NX Studio desktop software from version 1.7.0 to 1.7.1. Here is what has changed:

With a release date of October 2020, the Z7II offers plenty of opportunity for updates and changes, much of which are overdue. Just like the Z6III, I think similar changes could be made to the Z7II to bring it up to date with the release of the Z7III. Here is what I think could the specs of a refreshed Nikon Z7II could be.
